Under Premier Artists Chris gigged extensively with his New wave Cult pop band “The Chemicals” and supported major acts from Split Enz to The Sports, The band line up included; Sally Barter vocals and keyboards, Ian McBryde drums and Chris on guitar, synths and bass pedals which could be triggered by Ian’s kick drum. Official recordings remain of the band in the 3RRR archive.
In the mid ‘1980s’ Chris founded Electro Funk Band “Tango” with Carol Hitchcock. Signed by Glenn Wheatley & BMG they recorded two A side singles at Richmond Recorders

During this period Chris worked with Ian Meldrum, Joe Camilleri, The Dugites, Mark Williams, Venetta Fields and Daryl Brathwaite. Travelling overseas to Berlin’s Hansa Studio with Richard Zatorski and visiting The Farm Studio in England while Tears for Fears were recording was a highlight during this period.
